Little Big Mike’s taste of New Orleans

Sunday morn involved a bike down Austin’s renowned South Congress Avenue to visit a friend who has opened a new pizza trailer called Little Big Mike’s in the Laz parking lot at the intersection with Gibson Street.

One of my intention’s was to try Mike’s special chicory coffee, which he discovered during a trip to New Orleans at the famous Cafe Du Monde, sought after for its beignets–square pieces of dough, fried and covered in powdered sugar–and  chicory coffee.

Mike didn’t have any beignets to go with the coffee, but he did have some Coconut Doughnut Cake made by his talented wife, Alenna, which was bloomin’ delicious and a worthy substitute.

Minor detail: tomorrow is the U.S. Presidential Elections. Don’t know about you, but I’m quite nervous.
