Decent films herald the holidays

A decent batch of movies means we must be getting closes to the holidays when the studios tend to release many of the biggies.

The new James Bond film, “Skyfall,” is now out and the trailer certainly appears snappy, though Daniel Craig may be in danger of overdoing his tough-guy pout.

I saw the latest offering from the Wachowskis–who made the “Matrix Trilogy”–called “Cloud Atlas” and was blown away. I didn’t understand or follow much of the weaving plot but didn’t care as it was such a rich spectacle, with good acting, humour and haunting music. Thumbs up.

Ben Afflek continues to prove his worth–I’d like to point out I’ve rated him for a long time, ever since the likes of “Hollywoodland” and so am not surprised–with “Argo,” the amazing story of how six U.S. Embassy employees were smuggled out of Iran during the 1979 hostage crisis. Thumbs up.

Keep ’em coming Hollywood.
