The War God

Yesterday, Walter Barrie, my former gleaming Colour Sergeant from RMA Sandhurst days, was laid to rest, having caught an earlier train than the rest of us.

At the same time this side of the Atlantic and the battle, Reshma Kirpalani put together a fine piece for KUT news about veterans using creative arts to help them come to terms with their experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Why cannot the one good
Benevolent feasible
Final dove, descend?

And the wheat be divided?
And the soldiers send home?
And the barriers torn down?
And the enemies forgiven?
And with no retribution?
