Today I felt brave enough to venture forth sans long johns under my jeans–though still chilly in London, the sun was out making for an invigorating combination to clear the head.

A cup of Earl Grey tea and a slice of carrot cake with my godmother at Peter Jones department store’s Brasserie cafe was followed by the uplifting sight of Sloane Square ablaze with Christmas lights in the crisp darkness, courtesy the illuminated frontage of Peter Jones and the square’s trees encased in strings of fairy lights.

And the festive melodies of carol singers accompanied the hurried movements of commuters exiting Hammersmith Underground Station during the afternoon rush hour.
