Putting the road trip reminiscences on hold today for important news: It’s Groundhog Day, when much of America looks toward a groundhog–a type of rodent belonging to the group of large ground squirrels known as marmots–to predict when spring will arrive.

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, Sunday is Super Bowl XLVII, pitting the San Francisco 49ers against the Baltimore Ravens and when 30-second TV advert slots sell for over $3 million during the much hyped halftime show.

It’s being held in The Big Easy (which appears later in the road trip chronicles, soon to return).

No doubt Bourbon Street will already be heaving as fans gather to hear those all important works: “Touch down!”
